SUMMARY:🎩🪄 The Prestige - how far would you go to win the illusion?
DESCRIPTION:Movie discussion - watch the full film beforehand. Full spoiler
 s\, no screening.\n\nWhat this is\n\nChristopher Nolan’s The Prestige st
arts as a rivalry between two Victorian magicians. Then it gets meaner. Tw
o men chase the perfect illusion and slowly give more of themselves to the
trick: their relationships\, their identities\, their decency\, their abi
lity to stop. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale are both excellent\, but the
real pull is watching obsession become a kind of prison with applause at
the end. This fits our October run around illusion\, belief\, identity\, a
nd what people are willing to accept if the performance is convincing enou
gh.\n\nA few questions for the room\n\n• “At what point does dedicatio
n become self-destruction?”\n• “Is the real trick the illusion\, or
the identity someone builds around it?”\n• “Who pays the highest pri
ce for being believed?”\n\nWhen and where\n\n🗓️ Date: Sunday\, Octo
